Nebraska parents rushing to abandon children

When Nebraska enacted their Safe-Haven Law back in July in hopes of protecting dumpster babies, they neglected one very important stipulation: age restriction.  Since then, 20 teenagers have been dropped off at hospitals and other participating locations.

As if that wasn't bad enough, as legislators get ready to revise the law tomorrow, parents are now rushing off to legally abandon their children before the law changes.

Seriously...what the fuck is wrong with these people?

What gets me is the one woman who ADOPTED a child - that meant that not only did she make a conscious effort in deciding she wanted a child, she wanted someone else's child and went through all of the necessary legal paperwork to make that child her own.

NOW...now that the child is no longer a child at 18, she wants to get rid of her???

The Lincoln mother who dropped off her 18-year-old daughter said she was repeatedly turned down when she sought help from police, state social services authorities and the girl's school. The woman said her daughter had been diagnosed with a mental illness when she was 12 and had deep psychological scars from childhood abuse and from being left alone with her dead biological mother for a week. Am I the only one failing to see the logic in this?  Not only is the girl a legal adult, so hospitals have every right to tell her to get the hell out...but this woman adopted her.  It wasn't a mistake or the result of too much tequila.  It was a choice.

Seriously, if this girl had psychological scars before, what's she going to think now that she knows mom tried to pawn her off on someone else because she didn't want her anymore?  Maybe if the girl's lucky, her "mental illness" won't let her remember this so she won't think of mom as an irresponsible cunt.

But what about the other teens who are uprooted and hauled off to hospitals and fire departments because mom and dad don't want them anymore?  Anyone see some major acts of rebellion, angst, and just plain pissed-offedness in their futures?

This why stupid people shouldn't breed.

THIS is why we chose not to breed.

THIS is why I think people should have licenses to breed.  I'm so not joking.

When idiots breed, they do stupid things...and their kids suffer.
