WP Theme: Savvy Pro

This is a premium WordPress theme.  If you want to use Savvy with limited functionality, try Savvy Lite.

Unlike Savvy Lite, Savvy Pro contains options for Google Adsense display (or the standard image link ads), footer widgets, automatic thumbnail selection of uploaded images to posts, or insert a thumbnail/featured image of your choosing from the publish page.

What You Need

  • WordPress 2.6 or higher
  • Google Adsense publisher ID (for adsense support)

To prepare your site for Savvy:

  • Sort your categories into 2 levels, main -> subcategory - because Savvy is designed to be used in a magazine fashion, having a million categories strung out is counter-productive (that, and it looks ugly)
  • Sort your pages into 2 levels main -> subpage - For the same reason as above...if you have a list of pages a mile long, sort them by nesting them in Manage > Pages
  • See the known-conflict list of plugins below, if you have one of those plugins installed, install an alternative plugin

Instructions

  • Unzip the theme file, be sure to keep the folders in tact
  • Upload the "savvy-pro" folder to your /wp-content/wp-themes directory on your server
  • Activate the theme in WP Admin > Design
  • Edit theme options in WP Admin > Design > Savvy Options

FAQ

Why is this theme called "Savvy"?

Because it was originally designed and developed for SavvyLancer.

When I try to activate the theme, the featured posts aren't aligned properly.  What gives?

That is a result of a style conflict with iframe that the preview opens up in.  When you activate the theme, it will display properly.

What if I don't want any ads at all?

If you don't want ads in the sidebars, simply uncheck the "enable in sidebars" box on the Savvy Options page.  If you don't want ads on the homepage, you will have to edit the home.php file manually to remove the ads and replace it with something else.  If you do this, please be familiar with HTML and how to edit WP template files - if you break it, I won't be responsible for it!

Why are some of my images are skewed or the bottom is chopped off in the Featured Posts?

The featured posts carousel image dimensions are 290x210.  If the image is not tall enough to fit the 210 height, it will be stretched to fit.  Vertical images taller than 210 will be chopped off at the bottom.
