WP Theme: Savvy Lite
Savvy Lite is a stripped down version of Savvy Pro. Many of the built-in features are disabled in this theme. This theme still supports static ads on the homepage and post sidebars (they have to be edited in the ads.php file) as well as post thumbnails.

What You Need
- WordPress 2.6 or higher
- Text editor (such as notepad) for editing ad configuration file
To prepare your site for Savvy:
- Sort your categories into 2 levels, main -> subcategory - because Savvy is designed to be used in a magazine fashion, having a million categories strung out is counter-productive (that, and it looks ugly)
- Sort your pages into 2 levels main -> subpage - For the same reason as above...if you have a list of pages a mile long, sort them by nesting them in Manage > Pages
- See the known-conflict list of plugins below, if you have one of those plugins installed, install an alternative plugin
Instructions
- Unzip the theme file, be sure to keep the folders in tact
- Edit
ads.phpwith your ad and contact information - Upload the "savvy-lite" folder to your
/wp-content/wp-themesdirectory on your server - Activate the theme in
WP Admin > Design - Edit theme options in
WP Admin > Design > Savvy Options
Known plugins that don't work with this theme
- SimpleModal Contact Form - javascript conflict, upgrade to v1.2
- Lightbox 2 - javascript conflict, this one works just fine
FAQ
Why is this theme called "Savvy"?
Because it was originally designed and developed for SavvyLancer.
When I try to activate the theme, the featured posts aren't aligned properly. What gives?
That is a result of a style conflict with iframe that the preview opens up in. When you activate the theme, it will display properly.
What if I don't want any ads at all?
If you don't want ads in the sidebars, you will have to edit the home.php file manually to remove the ads and replace it with something else. If you do this, please be familiar with HTML and how to edit WP template files - if you break it, I won't be responsible for it!
Why are some of my images are skewed or the bottom is chopped off in the Featured Posts?
The featured posts carousel image dimensions are 290x210. If the image is not tall enough to fit the 210 height, it will be stretched to fit. Vertical images taller than 210 will be chopped off at the bottom.
I really like this theme, but can you add _________?
No. This is a free theme, so it is offered as is. If features you reuqest are available in Savvy Pro, purchase Savvy Pro. If Savvy Pro comes close to what you need, purchase Savvy Pro and make the modifications (or hire me to make them). If Savvy Pro is not even close to what you need, why are you still here?
